I am Jason Collier!

As a designer with a background in music, I strive to create user experiences that are impactful and meaningful.

From an early age, the pursuit of creating has always resonated with me. Whether creating musical experiences or visual designs, the correlations are similar. Working in the music industry for the past
fifteen years has allowed me to immerse myself in different cultures, styles, sights, and sounds. Thus, the curating of my experiences in my existence offers a valuable perception to express on any canvas.

Studying and practicing design for the past two years has offered an outlet to distill the vibrant blend of my experiences to create powerful design solutions for others.

June 2017 - Present

Redesigned and developed a responsive website to offer a modern User Interface that aligned with clients feedback.

Collaborated, strategized branding, and managed design strategy for an app prototype to solve user experience problems for current clients.

Synthesized research data to design human-centered iterations and an end-to-end prototype.

Conducted competitor research, moderated interviews, user tests, created wireframes, and prototyping to create a seamless user experience.

Responsible for developing a design system to reflect the company's essence and character.

Clerate (Internship)

May 2021-June 2021

Collaborated with a startup business stakeholder and designer colleague to design an end to end hospitality management app prototype in the span of 4 weeks.

Created user test scripts and implemented them with the Maze user test diagnostic platform. Results were tested and an iteration was improved upon for one round of testing.

Synthesized the stakeholders' vision by building low-fidelity and high-fidelity wireframes. The final prototype utilized Figma components and variables. The prototype was handed off to developers with clear guidelines for development utilizing clear HTML, CSS & Javascript instructions.

2007 - Present

Managed and directed bands for fortune 500 company; Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines. Collaborated with the Cruise Director to create a better customer experience by reviewing comments and implementing changes based on feedback. Responsible for timecards, rehearsals, and scheduling all bands on the ship.

Managed and directed bands that created unforgettable musical experiences for the audience. Communicated with clients to ensure that the songs they requested were arranged and performed live and customized. Past clients include the High Museum, Marta, and BMW.

Researched the life and music of Johnny Mercer to revive five unpublished works that I arranged for the 18- piece Georgia State Jazz ensemble to perform live.

Arranged horn parts for a national touring cover band. Collaborated with the bandleader and horn section to create parts that could be easily read and interpreted with the same level of excellence consistently.

Applied empathy and problem solving to isolate deficiencies in students' performances. Prescribed exercises in small methodical steps to correct the overlying issues, creating improved technique in a short amount of time.
